Thumbs+CD Product Information
The
Thumbs+CD Developers Kit includes both the 16-bit and
32-bit versions of ThumbsPlus versions for building a browsing
database of images, clip-art, video or TrueType fonts on CD.
Either or both databases (16 and 32-bit) may be placed on the
CD-ROM along with a royalty-free viewer for the user, called
Thumbs+CD. There is Thumbs+CD/16,
for use with Windows version 3.1, and Thumbs+CD/32,
for use with Windows 95, Windows 98 or NT. Either version or
both may be included on your CD publication, and a Wizard is
included to simplify the process of including the programs,
databases and run-time components. The functionality of the
two versions differs, with the 16-bit based on ThumbsPlus version
2.1b, and the 32-bit being based on ThumbsPlus version 3.30.
The viewers are very similar to ThumbsPlus. The main differences
are:
- All menu options for making/updating thumbnails
are removed.
- Menu options for opening or creating databases
are removed.
- The "Automatic Clipboard Saving"
option is removed.
- All TWAIN functions are removed.
- The HELP
ABOUT box references your company
and product name.
- All functions relating to keyword assignments
and, annotation assignments have been removed. (However, you
can define keywords which the users can use to search.)
- Contact Sheets, Directory creation/deletion
and Thumbnail export functions are removed.
You can customize Thumbs+CD/32
in several ways, including:
- Play a startup sound (WAV file)
- Replace the splash screen background graphic
(or bypass the splash screen)
- Change the Thumbs+CD title bar
- Specify the directory on the CD to start
browsing
- Turn off menus
You can customize Thumbs+CD/16
in some ways as well; this requires a 16-bit resource editor
(such as Microsoft's AppStudio).
At your discretion, you may also include the
ThumbsPlus evaluation product for your customers to install
and use. The 16-bit version 2.0e or the 32-bit version 3.30-S
may be included. In such case, it is the end users responsibility
to register ThumbsPlus. These evaluation versions are included
on the CDK distribution
IMPORTANT: If you
wish to use Thumbs+CD to view files that use Unisys patented
LZW compression (all GIF files and some TIFF files) it is the
your responsibility to obtain an agreement with the Unisys Welch
Licensing department. Cerious Software cannot provide the LZW
capability in Thumbs+CD unless you provide a copy of your agreement
with Unisys.
