Depending on the location of your database, the file types
do not always get updated to show all of the formats possible.
You may need to create or change the file type table in Options
- Preferences - File Types. Raw files should be
set up as this example for Kodak .kdc files:
Extension: .kdc
Description: Raw camera - Kodak
Category: Camera
Class: Raster
Load file using: Cerious Plug-in >> plug_digicam.tpp
Edit file using: Association
Print file using: Internal
Set the remaining options as you prefer. |
 |
The installer for version 4.0 will locate both version
7 and version 8 (beta) of ThumbsPlus and install for both. |
 |
As of version 3.7, this plug-in package
now includes two plug-ins, plug_digicam,
which uses PolyImagePro along
with Canon, Nikon and Foveon libraries (and its numerous
internally supported formats), and plug_digiraw,
which uses Dave
Coffin's dcraw.c. This second plug-in can
support several additional manufacturers and models, including
the Canon PowerShot G9, for which Canon has never released
libraries. |
 |
For any given file extension, you
can select which plug-in to use; in Options | Preferences
| File Types, select or add the extension, then
select 'Cerious Plug-in' as the Load Using method
and plug_digicam or plug_digiraw as
desired. If you select plug_digicam, it
will automatically try plug_digiraw if
plug_digicam fails. This is especially useful if you wish
to load most CR2 files with the Canon libraries, but use
DCraw for unsupported types such as the G9. |
 |
Note
that some formats are supported by only one of the libraries. |
 |
16-bit
file loading using plug_digiraw has a
gamma option. The default is set to 1.8, which provides
for most users' needs. If you need linear output, change
this to 1.0. When loading in 8-bit mode, there are options
for a brightness scale (base = 1.0) and automatic brightness. |
 |
Each plug-in also has separate loading options available;
these will be expanded in the future. The plug-ins may also
be combined at some point -- but for selection by file type,
using the built-in ThumbsPlus file configuration is the best
way for now. In the future, selection by specific camera
model may be available. |
 |
This plug-in requires ThumbsPlus version 7 or later! It
will not work with earlier versions. For information on upgrading
to ThumbsPlus version 7, please visit our
upgrade page. |
 |
This plug-in is not compatible with Windows 95 or
Windows NT. It will work on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003
and Vista. |
 |
Canon Raw files with a .TIF extension
may be loaded using the plug-in. Change .TIF loading to "Cerious Plug-in" using Options
| Preferences | File Types. |
 |
Because of a bug in the Canon libraries, ThumbsPlus 7.0
SP2 is required to view EXIF information from
Canon 30D images. Some earlier builds also caused problems
loading Canon 20D and 30D images. You can download 7.0 SP2
from www.cerious.com. |
