Adobe Illustrator is an OLE server, so you
can thumbnail, view and/or convert these files using OLE.
Go to Options | Preferences | File Types | New and create
the AI configuration.
You can also try loading AI files using a filter if one resides
on your system. (Corel 7 shipped with AI filters.)
We have a plug-in available for ThumbsPlus
that will handle most PS, EPS, PDF and some AI files, using
AFPL and GNU Ghostscript. Click
here for detailed information on this plug-in.
Only a few of our .AI samples work with the
plug-in. Most AI files require Postscript procedures that
are not part of Ghostscript. If anyone knows where to obtain
these procedures (e.g., Adobe_cmykcolor, Adobe_packedarray,
Adobe_level2_AI5), and whether they are redistributable, please
email Laura
Shook.

If you have a version of Internet Explorer installed on your
system that can read ART files, ThumbsPlus can read them as
well. Without an ART enabled version of IE, T+ can not read
the files. Note: Microsoft appears to have removed ART
support in the latest versions of IE.

In earlier versions of Corel, CPT files are
TIF files with the CPT extension and supported in ThumbsPlus.
In Corel 7 and later, CPT files are another proprietary format
that can only be supported through Corel's OLE server. To
change the CPT configuration for later versions of Corel,
go to Options | Preferences | File Types | Image | TIF.

DRW files are proprietary, thus insupportable
internally. It is possible to configure ThumbsPlus to use
filters that are available on your system. Go to Options
| Preferences | File Types | New. When setting up the
new format, you must click the Hunt For Filters button
to check your system for filters and have them available in
the drop down menu.
You can also setup the format to use OLE.

The registered version of ThumbsPlus can read
most R12 and R13 DXF files but not DWG files directly. With
AutoCAD R13 and later, you can set up AutoCAD as a Windows
OLE server and access DWG files in ThumbsPlus "through" AutoCAD.
However, the accuracy of the rendition depends almost entirely
on AutoCAD's accuracy in exporting its image as a metafile.
Feedback from users indicates that the results are usually
very good, but not always perfect. Many report having to launch
and minimize AutoCAD before thumbnailing/viewing DWG files.
Options | Preferences | File Types | Metafile | DWG.
You may need to re-install AutoCAD if OLE support was not
installed in the initial installation.
The DWG format can also be setup to use a
filter if available on your system. When setting up the new
format, you must click the Hunt For Filters button
to check your system for filters and have them available in
the drop down menu.

ThumbsPlus will read and display, in the properties
of the file, any EXIF information embedded in the image. T+
will also retain and update the EXIF information when resaving.
An EXIF editor is planned for version 8.

ThumbsPlus uses DirectShow (aka Active Movie)
to display all animated images, so all you need are codecs
that support FLV files. The
K-Lite Codec Pack (Full) includes an FLV codec.

The latest report is that PictureIt does not offer OLE support,
so these files are not supportable within T+.

MOV files since Quicktime version 3 are not supported by
Active Movie, which ThumbsPlus utilizes. However, you can
download and install the free Quicktime Alternative codec.
This enables Quicktime movies to play in Windows Media Player,
which will subsequently allow them to play and thumbnail in
ThumbsPlus. You can download and read about this codec here:

Minolta MRW files are supported using our
Digicam Plug-in.
You must have ThumbsPlus version 7 Pro Edition to use the
plug-in.
The Digicam plug-in with ThumbsPlus supports
a staggering amount of raw formats. There are so many different
cameras that output these raw formats that it would be impossible
to ever fully support (or guarantee to support) each and every
one. There are new raw flavors being written daily, and we
have to wait and rely on the camera manufactures to supply
documentation, or "libraries" for the new raw types.
The main problem with our internal support of the Minolta
files is that Minolta has not released ANY documentation about
the color settings. The white balance settings are not working
with some images as you are seeing with the pink.
Please send a file that shows this behavior
in ThumbsPlus to Laura
Shook. Be sure to have MRW in the subject line.
We will continue to work on better support for the MRW raw
format from Minolta as well as the other raw formats that
are released.

PDD files are proprietary and undocumented.
In v1.x of PhotoDeluxe, these files were so similar to PSD
files that we could support them. Note that even saving the
files as v1 PDD files in later versions does not save the
files in a format that we can support. Only using v1 of PhotoDeluxe
can create PDD files that ThumbsPlus can understand. If PhotoDeluxe
has the ability to convert or export the files in another
format, my format of choice is TIFF with LZW compression.
Another note: If you are using PhotoDeluxe to grab images
from a digital camera, you can use ThumbsPlus to get the images
from the camera and save them as BMP, ICO, WMF, PCX, GIF,
PNG, TIF, JPG or TGA.

Powerpoint files are proprietary files that
can not be supported internally within ThumbsPlus. You can

can view the files in the thumbnail list and thumbnail them.
When you double click a PPT thumbnail, ThumbsPlus will then
call Powerpoint and open it in Powerpoint.

Using Paint Shop Pro's OLE server, you should be able to set
up the configuration as shown in the screen shot attached

With v6 and older of Paint Shop Pro, the OLE support is not
always reliable, but the OLE support in v7 of Paint Shop Pro
has proven to be more stable.
