ThumbsPlus 11 progress update

I'm sorry it's been so long since I discussed version 11. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us greatly for the last year. Because of COVID and our landlord's retirement and sale of our office, we've had to move our servers offsite and now work from home. Development continues and I estimate beta availability in a few weeks.

We'll soon have a new newsletter signup available for information on releases and beta availability. Our homegrown mailing list software isn't compatible with our new remote host, so we'll be moving to a hosted application. If you have suggestions for a mailing host or service that will support around 100,000 recipients, or know of problems with specific ones, please email to let us know.

ThumbsPlus 11 progress
Since the final build (4015) of ThumbsPlus v10 SP2 was released, all bug fixes, enhancements, updated options, and new features have gone directly into the ThumbsPlus v11 code.

We are still hard at work with and continue to update and test ThumbsPlus v11 in-house. However, it is taking far longer than we hoped to get to a point where we are comfortable releasing a public beta.

With a single developer, the process of upgrading ThumbsPlus to a true 64-bit program (while still offering support for 32 bit operating systems) has been a huge undertaking. Not only did we not anticipate the difficulty of this job, we weren't aware that some of the 32-bit libraries we use are not available as 64-bit libraries, or are explensive. The required workarounds are more complex and difficult than we expected. But, as with all previous major releases of ThumbsPlus, the list of fixes, updated features, and new options in version 11 is a huge one.

As it has actually been over 8 years since we have had a paid upgrade, we are as anxious to get ThumbsPlus v11 released as you all are to take a look at it.

We thank all of you for your continued support in the many suggestions and encouraging e-mail messages!

Getting that beta released!

We're working hard to release the first public beta for ThumbsPlus 11, which we're already testing heavily in-house. We need your help to purchase the test environments, library licenses, and signing certificates required so that we can distribute it.

If you want to help us more directly, you can make a recurring pledge using our new Patreon or make a donation via PayPal.

Small business licenses

We now offer two Small Business licenses. Small business licenses are perfect for SOHOs (small offices/home offices) and allow you to share a ThumbsPlus database on up to 3 or 5 computers concurrently. You may install on more computers, but only the licensed number of computers are licensed to run ThumbsPlus simultaneously. If you are not sharing a database, you may install and use ThumbsPlus only on the licensed number of computers.

The SB3 license is currently $179.95 and the SB5 license is $359.95. You may also upgrade from an existing Pro license for the difference in price ($60 and $240 respectively). Support and upgrades are included for one year. After that first year, you can continue to receive support and upgrades for one third of the current license price per year.

If you accidentally purchased a 5 user home network license for business use in the past, you may use the SB3 to SB5 to upgrade to a valid small business license for $180.00.
